Single Origin, Single Cultivar

Our matcha is single origin, meaning it’s grown and processed on one tea farm. This ensures consistency and purity. We also focus on single cultivar matcha, using only one variety of tea leaf. This is rare in today’s market, where blends are common and often include lower-grade tea leaves.

Patented Uji Matcha

Our matcha is Uji matcha, a trademark held by the Kyoto Prefecture Tea Cooperative Association. It guarantees that our matcha is made by grinding tea produced in specific prefectures and processed by Kyoto-based methods originating from the Uji region. Despite broader definitions, true Uji matcha is believed to come exclusively from Kyoto.

All our matcha products are JAS certified organic. Achieving this certification in Japan is a rigorous three-year process that guarantees the highest quality and purity. The JAS badge symbolizes our commitment to excellence.

Stone-Ground Perfection

Traditional stone mills grind our tencha into a fine matcha powder. This slow process produces only 30 grams of matcha per hour, but it’s crucial for maintaining the quality. Stone-ground matcha is easily distinguishable from machine-ground powders, which lack the rich texture and flavor.

From Farm to Cup: Our Commitment

Our matcha comes from tea farms in Uji City, Wazuka, and Kyoto City, with over 500 years of combined experience. As the founder of Premium Health Japan, I live near these farms and regularly visit, even participating in the spring harvest. This close relationship with our tea farmers ensures we maintain the highest standards.
