Why Okumidori?
The Okumidori cultivar is favored for its vivid green color and balanced, mellow taste. Less astringent than Yabukita, it yields a naturally sweet and velvety matcha when grown in Uji’s shaded fields.
Its smooth umami flavor makes it ideal for both usucha and koicha, as well as premium matcha lattes.

Grown in Wazuka
Our Okumidori matcha is cultivated in the tea-rich hills of Wazuka, Kyoto — a region renowned for producing some of Japan’s finest Uji matcha. The fields are shaded for several weeks before harvest using traditional kabuse methods to deepen chlorophyll levels and umami flavor.
This farm employs low-intervention methods on carefully managed small plots, with a strong focus on soil health and careful picking during the spring flush.
Certified Organic
This product is certified organic under the Japan Agricultural Standards (JAS) program. JAS organic is officially recognized as equivalent to the organic certification systems of the EU, USA, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, New Zealand, and others.
That means when you buy this matcha, it qualifies as organic under those national standards.
