100-Prong Bamboo Matcha Whisk (Chasen)

This 100-prong bamboo matcha whisk (chasen) is designed to help you achieve a smooth, velvety foam every time you prepare matcha.

Handmade in China by skilled artisans and quality-checked and packed in Japan, it offers an excellent balance of performance and value for both home users and cafés.

Because each whisk is made from natural bamboo, slight variations in color and shape are normal and part of its handmade character.

1. Add 1–2 scoops of matcha (about 1–2 g) to your chawan or bowl.
2. Pour 60–80 ml of hot water at around 70–80°C (158–176°F).
3. Hold the whisk near the base and whisk in a quick W or M motion, avoiding pressing the prongs hard into the bottom of the bowl.
4. Whisk until a layer of fine, micro-foam forms on the surface.
5. Enjoy as usucha, or pour over milk for a matcha latte.

For best results, use with fresh, high-quality Uji matcha and a proper matcha bowl or chawan.

Proper care will help keep your whisk in shape and extend its life.

• Before first use: Rinse gently in warm water to remove any dust. Avoid soap.
• After each use: Rinse with warm water only. Do not use detergent or dish soap.
• No dishwasher: Washing machines and dishwashers can damage the bamboo and loosen the prongs.
• Drying: Shake off excess water and allow the whisk to air-dry in a well-ventilated place.
• Storage: Store on a bamboo whisk holder (kusenaoshi) to help the prongs maintain their curved shape. Bamboo grows straight, so without support the whisk may slowly lose its form.
• Avoid moisture and sunlight: Keep away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and enclosed, damp spaces to prevent mold.

With daily use and proper care, a whisk may gradually open and soften over time—this is normal and part of its natural lifespan.
